About Toyota

By 1936, the company’s growing popularity required it to create an official logo. To this end, they began a competition to identify one which prioritized speed. After more than 25,000 entries were received, the logo that was accepted changed the moniker from Toyoda, which is a Japanese family name, to Toyota. The founders felt that this name sounded better, and the eight stroke Japanese symbols which are used to create it were meant to convey wealth and fortune. Although this original logo no longer appears on Toyota vehicles, it is still used as a corporate emblem in Japan.

About Toyota Tundra

The Tundra pickup truck has been manufactured in the USA since 1999. It is the first full sized pickup to be assembled in the USA through a Japanese firm. It has received a number of awards, including the Truck of the Year from Motor Trend twice in 2008 and 2000. Originally it was built in Indiana but today production has shifted to Texas at San Antonio.

The newest Tundra features bigger grilles, upgraded fenders in the back and front and a tailgate that has been completely redesigned. Its hood line has also been elevated to provide the truck with an appearance that is more chiseled and a spoiler completes the look. Inside, passengers are presented with 3.5 inch displays, a camera for backup, and Bluetooth support. New gauges and seats have also been added, along with enhanced ergonomics, and the truck is powered by a V6 or V8 engine which ranges from 270 to 278 horsepower.

Common Toyota Tundra A/C Problems

One driver stated that the truck’s A/C blender doors had malfunctioned and two dealers informed him that this was a known issue. Many consider it a potential safety hazard, because once the doors are no longer working the windows can suddenly frost up, which prevents the driver from seeing his or her surroundings. This actually happened to one owner while operating the vehicle and due to lack of visibility they almost struck an object but were able to regain control before a serious accident occurred.
