About Nissan
Nissan’s success in Japan gave it the confidence and resources needed to expand internationally, which it did starting in the 1950s. It didn’t take long for the company managers to realize that the Datsun line of compact cars could fill an untapped market in both Australia and the United States. This led to the development of the Datsun Bluebird, which was first showcased at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 1958. Afterwards, Nissan decided to establish an American subsidiary called Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A, which was based at Gardena, California, which was led through Yutaka Katayama.
About Nissan Altima
The Altima is a moderately sized car which was first introduced by Nissan in 1992. However, it is actually an extension of the Bluebird line, which was initiated in 1955. Traditionally, the Altima has served as a go between the Nissan Sentra and Maxima, being larger and better equipped than the Sentra, but lacking the power, size and luxury of the Maxima. Four generations have been produced exclusively in the USA, and then sold both domestically and in Latin America, as well as Australia and the Middle East. Outside these markets, Nissan offered a related sedan which is called Teana.
Many consider the Altima a successor to the Nissan Stanza, which was discontinued in 1992. At first, Every Nissan Altima was produced at a plant in Tennessee, but starting in 2004 Nissan opened a second plant in Mississippi which assembled additional models to accommodate the growing demand.
Common Nissan Altima A/C Problems
Some drivers have reported an oily scent which is emitted through the A/C vent whenever the car moves. The odor is particularly noticeable when slowing down at stop signs or red lights, and the only way to stop it is by shutting off the A/C completely. Others have reported unusual noises coming from their A/C system when the car is in operation. Mechanics who investigated the issue believed that the problem could be the result of the air compressor coming loose, and only being connected by a single belt. This is a serious issue since if left unresolved it could lead to additional problems inside the engine area, so the owner was advised to replace the air compressor.
