About Jeep

Founded in 1943, Jeep is a Fiat Chrysler division that primarily produces sport utility vehicles. It is best known for the Jeep Cherokee, Humvee and Jeep Wrangler, and early in its history established a close relationship with the U.S. military which needed vehicles for World War 2. Today it mostly designs vehicles for civilian use and has also built a few pickup trucks. The marque has always emphasized the capability of its off-road vehicles, which are sought after among those that frequently engage in hunting and other outdoor activities.

About Jeep Wrangler

The Wrangler is a collection of moderately sized and compact SUVs. First introduced by Jeep in 1986, this vehicle is manufactured at the Toledo Complex in Ohio and has had four generations so far. Each Wrangler has off-road capabilities, and the latest JL division features extra powertrains, a transmission that has been redesigned, a windshield that can fold flat, soft tops which are zipper less and a refined interior.

The Wrangler is one of the few vehicles in the world that uses a 4 wheel drive with rear and front solid axles. The axels are renowned for their great strength, articulation and durability. The newer Wranglers utilize Dana 30 and Dana 44 rear and front differentials. Some versions of the Rubicon also have locking differentials which can be activated electronically. One benefit of SUVs which are solid axle is that it is easier and more cost effective for them to lift with the suspension aftermarket systems.

Common Jeep Wrangler A/C Problems

One owner stated that the A/C in their Wrangler suddenly stopped working. When investigated it was found that the wrong coolant was used which destroyed the evaporator. Others have reported that the heater core in their Wrangler broke down on multiple occasions, and there is also an issue with the radiator’s cooling line where it rubs up against the A/C in a way which causes a hole to appear and fluid to leak out. This required the condenser to be replaced and distance created between the lines so that the issue would not reoccur.
