About Jeep
Jeep is a Chrysler Fiat subsidiary that specializes in sport utility vehicles. It was established in 1943 and initially designed military vehicles like the Humvee for the U.S. Army during WW2 and the Cold War. Since that time it has focused on the consumer market where it has sold millions of crossover and off-road vehicles, and at one time also sold trucks. The marque has its headquarters at Toledo and is best known for models such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Liberty.
About Jeep Liberty
The Jeep Liberty is an SUV which is compact and was produced from 2002 until 2012 for American consumers. It is the successor to the Cherokee XJ and carried a price tag which was between the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler. During its production period it was one of the smallest four door jeeps manufactured until the arrival of the Jeep Patriot and Compass. The Jeep Liberty is similar to the XJ Cherokee in that it utilizes a unibody design. It was built at the northern assembly plant in Toledo as well as plants in Venezuela and Egypt.
The 2008 edition of the Liberty was completely redesigned with a boxier outer frame and off-road appearance. It was showcased at the 2007 International Auto Show in New York. The 4 cylinder engine was removed and replaced with an aluminum head, iron block V6. It has a max towing capacity of 5,000 pounds but the CRD was discontinued since it didn’t meet the stricter emission standards for 2007. Buyers had the choice of a six speed manual or four speed automatic transmissions. Standard features include ABS brakes, traction and stability control, protection against rollover, side airbags, and satellite radio and Bluetooth.
Common Jeep Liberty A/C Problems
In most of these vehicles, the A/C compresses the refrigerant and then blows the cold air inside the cabin normally. However, a number of owners have reported problems in their Jeep Liberty. Sometimes the pressure inside the air conditioning lines becomes too low, or the compressor fails completely. Drivers whose compressors failed purchased replacements online, but the A/C still needed to be recharged, which was done by mechanics.
