About Hyundai

Hyundai is a South Korean company that was established in 1967. By the end of the 20th century it had emerged as one of the world’s preeminent automakers, and in the late 1990s it took advantage of the Asian financial crisis to acquire a strategic stake in Kia Motors, a corporation which had once been its rival. By 2000 Hyundai expanded further, forming a partnership with DaimlerChrysler and creating a joint truck corporation by 2001. Like other automobile companies, Hyundai has assembly plants around the world, in places as diverse as Turkey, Russia, India, the Czech Republic and the United States.

About Hyundai Sonata

The Hyundai Sonata is a medium sized car which was first introduced in 1985. Although the initial variant was little more than a Hyundai Stellar with an upgraded engine and facelift, the second generation used a distinct design and was exported internationally. It became a success and today is manufactured in the USA and sold in Asia, Russia and North America.

The newest generation uses a 2.4 direct injection engine with four cylinders. It has enhanced fuel economy and can produce a maximum of 147 kW (197 horsepower) with 6300 rpm. A timing chain has also been added along with an automatic six speed transmission. The Sonata has a frame which is exceptionally durable, as it is constructed with steel that is ultra-strength and hot stamped.

Common Hyundai Sonata A/C Problems

One owner stated that their Hyundai Sonata worked fine until they replaced the drive belt. About three weeks after replacement, the cars begin to manifest various problems, one of which was noise being emitted from its A/C panel. Mechanics who inspected it concluded that the issue was most likely caused by a flap that had become loose. It is also believed that the sound could be the result of installing the wrong belt.

Other drivers have complained of a defect involving the compressor. The A/C won’t come on periodically, usually after the car has been off for a few hours. It is believed that this issue is probably caused by a compressor that has become faulty.
