About BMW
Every electric or hybrid BMW vehicle is sold under the BMW i designation. The model range currently consists of the i3, which is a B segment hatchback with five doors that is powered using the electric motor, and the i8 which is a roadster/coupe with two doors that is powered using both a petrol engine and electric motor. Company representatives have also announced the release of two additional vehicles which are fully electric, the BMW i4 (which will be released in 2021 as a 4 door sedan), and the BMW SUV iX3, which should arrive by 2020.
A number of hybrid plugin models which are designed on current platforms have been given the iPerformance designation. The 225xe is one example as it uses an electric motor with a turbocharged, 1.5 liter engine with three cylinders. I technology can also be found in the BMW SUVs, including the X1, X2, X3 and X5.
About BMW 135i
The BMW 135i is equipped with a straight six N54 turbocharged engine. Starting in 2011 its powertrain was switched to an inline 6 N55 turbo. It can produce up to 300 horsepower with 300 pounds of torque. It is capable of going from zero to sixty in less than five seconds, but is outfitted with a six speed manual transmission; which provides one of the best driving experiences in its class. It has eighteen inch wheels, M Sport style suspension, and an exhaust which is M tuned. It also has classic hydraulic steering which provides more tactile feedback than its modern electric power counterparts. The turn in is faster because of its smaller wheel base which maximizes its superb handling and the power delivered by the engine is both smooth and silky.
Common BMW 135i A/C Problems
Some owners have encountered a problem where the A/C will not turn on. They stated specifically that the compression switched on for about three seconds before shutting down. Those who have investigated the issue have concluded that it is most likely the result of the temperature sensor which is malfunctioning. If the temperature readings are too low, the compressor will shut itself down automatically.
