Common Acura TSX A/C Problems
The Acura TSX A/C is subject to a number of issues which have been reported by drivers. If you notice the following problems, it is an indication that your air conditioning is in need of repair, and the sooner you get it done, the more affordable the process will be. The last thing you want is for your air conditioning to go down on a hot summer day, but is also important to recognize the early warning signs of a problem and address them before they worsen.
The Coils Have Become Frigid
A coil which has become frigid is typically a sign that the air conditioning has an air flow problem. A filter which has become dirty or blocked will restrict the flow of air, and the coils themselves will become frozen, meaning the system won’t run correctly. Sometimes the coils freeze because refrigerant levels have become too low.
The Cooling Is Uneven
Fluctuations in temperature can occur within air conditioning units, and usually arise due to vents which are blocked, ductwork leakage or insulation which is poor. To resolve this issue, it is first important to verify that each vent within the A/C is open, clean and not obstructed by any foreign objects. If one area of your car seems cooler than another, the air conditioning or climate control should be further investigated.
Electric Management Failure
Both the compressor and fan are subject to wear as time passes. Turning the air conditioning on or off regularly will also contribute to this process. The issue is most pertinent in A/C units which are oversized, because terminal or wire corrosion will cause a variety of adverse effects. Each electrical connection has to be inspected when maintained to ensure these issues are prevented.
Odd Noises
An Acura air conditioning system that is in good working condition should make very little noise. If you notice sounds such as squealing or screeching which are being emitted from the blower motor, this is usually a sign that there is a problem with the motor bearing that must be fixed soon. In some cases the issue can be resolved by adding lubricant within an oil port. However, if you hear the sound of smacking, especially when you activate or deactivate the A/C, this almost certainly means you have a relay issue.
The Refrigerant is Leaking
An air conditioning unit that is low in refrigerant was probably undercharged when it was installed, or there is a leak. The location of leaks can be very difficult to identify, which why it is best to take your car to a licensed professional. They have specialized tools and knowledge that will allow them to identify the problem area and get it resolved. It is also important that the refrigerant charge within the car is aligned with the specifications established by the manufacturer that way the air conditioning will operate at optimal performance.
